Impact Investment Funds in Canada

Active Impact Fund will invest broadly from a thematic stance but will invest exclusively in social ventures. What do we define as a social venture? A company that is either a certified BCorp or one that serves to advance one of the UN's 17 SDG's for positive social and environmental impact through the course of their business operations. We believe that we can help these early stage social ventures, not only with money but with part-time, interim, senior operational support to provide capacity building. By doing this, we expect to see faster growth rates and lower failure rates which all add up to higher total impact and financial returns. We expect to invest in approximately 15 of these companies and all of them will leverage past experience of the fund manager in tech, SaaS/subscription and services. All investments will be in "for-profit" private companies with at least some revenue to show market fit and interest. The overall mission of the business is to prove this model works so that we can attract far larger sums of money and talent towards supporting social ventures in the future.
